Gleniffer Braes, Paisley

3 miles / 5 km
A short hilly walk over the Gleniffer Braes on gravel and muddy grass.

Pretty Easy
This is a hilly walk with two substantial climbs. The walk starts on tarmac before it enters a gravel path and then some grass and mud. Walking poles is an advantage for those who are not so steady on their feet. In particular on the descent down from the Robertson Car Park to Foxbar. Good shoes and plenty of water is recommended. The views from the Robertson Car Park over Paisley are excellent.

McGill's Bus 26 from Paisley Town Hall to the Glenburn Road - Braehead Road roundabout (ask the bus driver and/or use the map on the phone) 6 times an hour.
Jump of the bus at the bus stop just before the roundabout and take the path to the left up to Braehead Road. Follow this road past the shops and then, on the Paisley Golf Club sign post on a pretty vertical climb up some bends to the first car park to the right. Walk over the car park to the path straight ahead. Follow this path on the terrace over the valley floor until the bend to the left. Follow this path up a pretty steep hill on a good path to the bridge over Gleniffer Burn.
Cross the bridge and follow the path to the Sargeantlaw Road. Cross the road and take the very popular path over the grassy brae to Robertson Car Park.
The views here are really outstanding and perhaps the best in the whole of Renfrewshire. To continue the walk, after admiring the views, follow the car park to the road and then cross the road to the path going down to Foxbar.

I am not a fan of this grassy, slippery and rocky path, to be honest. It has some very steep descents on some rocky terrain. I am not a big fan of damaging myself by breaking legs and arms. Hence my reluctance to use this path. Walking poles is a good idea. Take your time and be very careful down this path. The path ends at a grassy bank at Foxbar. Take the road to the right and you should now be able to spot the Londis shop and the bus shelter just before this shop. The walk ends at the bus shelter.
McGills Bus 61 4 - 6 times an hour back to Paisley Town Hall.
Enjoy the walk !!
