A walk in two halves. First the walk on small roads over the hills to Bridge Of Weir. The second half follows the flat cycle/walking path to Linwood.

Pretty Hard

This is a long walk. That's why it is pretty hard. The first part Kilmacolm - Bridge Of Weir is by far the most interesting part of the walk and most walkers will end the walk here and take the McGill's X7 Bus back to Linwood/Braehead/Glasgow. The bus is only 1 time an hour. I have therefore attached the final part, Bridge Of Weir - the first bus stops in Clippens Road, Linwood as the buses here are 4 times an hour. Good shoes and plenty of water is again required. There is shops in Bridge Of Weir as the walk to Linwood passes through this scenic village.

McGill's Bus X7 to Kilmacolm from Glasgow/Braehead/Linwood 1 time an hour.

The walk starts from Kilmacolm village square, next to the well-stocked Coop Shop. From the bus stop, cross the road over to the Post Office and then the first road, Market Place to the right. 50 yards/meters up this road, take the next road, Gillburn Road to the right again. Follow this road up the hill for 300 yards/meters to the first proper road to the right again, Glencairn Road. Follow this road for half a mile/ 1 km until the end of this road. There are some really nice houses to the left of this road, btw.

At the end of Glencairn Road, take the Houston Road, which changes to Kilallan Road after 200 yards/meters, to the left up a steep hill to the first holes at the Kilmacolm Golf Course. The walk on this small road takes the walk between two of this golf course's holes and then down a long descent to a valley.



The landscape is undulating farm fields. The road is undulating too. There are some nice farms and their farm animals to the left of this road. The landscape and scenery is really nice.



After half a mile/ 1 km on this road where the road enters a forest, take the (signposted) Warlock Road down to the right. This road descends down to a small river valley. At the bottom of this valley, the road then climbs up a hill again before descending down to another river valley.



The final undulating part of this road climbs up a small hill to Houston Road. Take this road to the right for 100 yards/meters to the crossroad and Bridge Of Weir. For those who want to take the McGill's Bus X7 to Linwood/Barrhead/Glasgow, the bus stop is at the right here, up Kilmacolm Road.
The rest of the walk continues down the road to the left through the village to the signposted path to Linwood just before the bridge out of the village. Take this path for the next 2. 5 miles to a signpost pointing to the playfields at a school. After 50 yards/meters, you are now on Gilmartin Road. Take this road to the left up a slight incline to the bus stop 150 yards/meters up the small incline where this walk ends.
