A walk in two parts. First the walk along the river through a dense forest. The final part over the plains to Linwood.
The final part is pretty uninteresting, just done to get a bus to Glasgow or Paisley. If desired, the walk can be ended at Crosslee and the bus stop there, McGill's Bus X7 1 time an hour to Glasgow. The river walk is good.

Easy

This walk is easy. The walk along the river is scenic. The final part on a narrow pavement is pretty flat, dull but still a good test of the walker's physical health. Sting relief cream or roll-on sticks are a must-have on this walk. Due to the humidity of the forest along the river, plenty of drink is recommended.




McGill's Bus X7 to Bridge Of Weir from Glasgow/Braehead/Linwood 1 time an hour.

The walk starts at the first bus stop on the Main Street in Bridge Of Weir. Walk down the street over the bridge to Mill Brae to the left, just across from an Italian Kitchen and Bar. Walk down this road to the river and cross the bridge on the path.




The path with the small canal to the left and the river to the right is very interesting. The vegetation is very dense here, and there is plenty of nettles and other not-so-friendly vegetation. The sort of vegetation that burns and stings.



The walk ends up on a road after 2 miles / 3 km of the river walk. Take the road to the right over a small rise and down to the main road at Crosslee where you can either end the walk at the bus stops or continue on the road, pavement, to the right towards Linwood over the plains. River Gryffe is crossed again on a bridge.



The walk on the pavement, with some good views in all directions, on Barrochan Road and after the Linwood signpost, on Darluith Road up a small rise in the road to Clippens Road and the bus stops there where this walk ends.
