Gryffe Valley

The walk down the ex railway line, now a cycle/walking path between Greenock and Bridge Of Weir. The scenery is very good throughout this walk.

Easy

This walk is both scenic and easy. It passes through the very scenic Kilmacolm and it has some good views towards the rest of the valley too. In particular towards Quarrier's Village on the other side of the valley. Good shoes and plenty of water is recommended.

Train to Port Glasgow from Glasgow/Paisley 4 times an hour.
McGill's Bus 532 from Port Glasgow to Slaemuir Montrose Avenue 3 times an hour.

This walk starts at the bus stop on Montrose Avenue. Walk down Millport Road to the signposted start of the path. This path take you over a small 20 yards/meters climb before the good tarmac path starts down the valley towards Kilmacolm.




The path takes the walker through some good landscapes before Kilmacolm comes into view. The views in all directions is very good.



The path becomes a lot more varied with some bends before entering a housing estate in Kilmacolm and then the old railway station. The village square with a good Coop shop is 50 yards/meters up to the left. The path continues from the old railway station under a bridge and through a narrow railway line cutting. It escapes again at a tennis court, some houses and farm fields. The flat path continues down to the valley.



The views towards Mount Zion's church spire and the rest of Quarrier's Village are impressive from here. The path descends slightly before crossing the bridge at Bridge Of Weir. Walk of the path here and down Torr Road to the crossroad. Take the Main Street up to the left for 300 yards/meters, past the crossroad and cross the street to the bus stop there.
McGill's Bus X7 to Linwood/Braehead/Glasgow 1 - 2 times an hour.
